Tri-Conderoga.

We have Faber-Castell’s GRIP 2001 for a nicely-made, comfortably grib-able pencil. There is also the Staedtler Egosoft, which is covered in sticky stuff. Not as popular is the Dixon Ticonderogo Tri-Write, which is a triangular-shaped version of the popular yellow Dixon.

I was talking online with a good friend of mine last night about why the Ticonderago is called such. On visiting the company webpage to find where they give Fort Ticonderago as an explanation, I found something that kept me up a little last night.

Dixon has a new pencil that they are billing as “The World’s Most Comfortable Pencil” — the Tri-Conderoga! Dixon gives its features:

* Larger, more control
* Cushy ‘Soft-Touch’ finish
* Triangular-shaped

And it’s made of delicious Incense Cedar, too. As soon as I can find some, I’ll put up a review. I’m really excited about this pencil. The pen world is getting the Pilot G2 Mini, and we get a sleek new Dixon!

I’m pretty sure I’ve never seen these pencils here (Portugal), I guess they’re only available in USA.

BTW and since the Ergosoft line is mentioned, does anyone know if there are other degrees (like 2H) of Ergosoft pencils? I know their site doesn’t say anything about it but I’ve seen stuff from Staedtler that doesn’t show up on the site kneadable erasers and… brushes! (WTF?!)

Good news!
The very nice folks at Dixon tell me that these gems will be out in Staples stores in a week or two! We’ll review them for sure as soon as we can get them, hopefully before that.

Timerever,
I’m faily certain that the Ergosoft only comes in 2B, B and HB in the US, with the Noris Ergosoft only coming in HB. Can’t say for Portugal, though, I think they have the same three?

Do you know about the blogger game to write “20 random things about myself”?–I tag you next!

So it seems but with Staedtler you never know… there’re such a wierd company o_0

I mentioned in a comment on the Grip review that I’ve had some trouble fitting Staedtler’s triangular pencils into standard sharpeners.

When you’re reviewing the “triconderoga,” I would be interested in hearing how this “extra large,” coated, triangular pencil does as far as sharpeners. If they think we’re all going to run out and buy special sharpeners…

I will be interested to learn how it compares with their Ticonderoga ‘Tri-Write’, another triangular pencil they make. I like the tri-write; it is comfortable to hold and works fine in regular sharpeners. I wonder about the cushion coating of the new one and its compatibility with sharpeners.

Well, I just a pack of them. Six with a sharpener were $3.18 at my local Staples. Cool package. We’ll see soon how well they work.

I just put a few photos of them up on flickr. http://www.flickr.com/groups/pencilrevolution/

Awesome! Thanks for posting those photos, Tom! They look great:)

Have to tryied Staedtler’s rotary sharpner? It’s supposed to be able to sharpen round, hexagonal and triangular pencils from 7 to 12mm large

The Faber Castell Grip is available in Portugal, but I never saw Staedtler ergosoft and Dixon =\

I bought a package of these at Staples and they came with a sharpener. I expected it to be some sort of special sharpener, but it was just your standard manual with a large and a small hole. The only thing that took getting used to with the shape had to do with ‘turning’, I tend to turn a round pencil as I write to keep the point even and I can’t do that quite as easily. I am a fan though.
