I bought a package of these at Staples and they came with a sharpener. I expected it to be some sort of special sharpener, but it was just your standard manual with a large and a small hole. The only thing that took getting used to with the shape had to do with 'turning', I tend to turn a round pencil as I write to keep the point even and I can't do that quite as easily. I am a fan though.

Well, I just a pack of them. Six with a sharpener were $3.18 at my local Staples. Cool package. We'll see soon how well they work.

I will be interested to learn how it compares with their Ticonderoga 'Tri-Write', another triangular pencil they make. I like the tri-write; it is comfortable to hold and works fine in regular sharpeners. I wonder about the cushion coating of the new one and its compatibility with sharpeners.

I mentioned in a comment on the Grip review that I've had some trouble fitting Staedtler's triangular pencils into standard sharpeners.

When you're reviewing the "triconderoga," I would be interested in hearing how this "extra large," coated, triangular pencil does as far as sharpeners. If they think we're all going to run out and buy special sharpeners...
