I am participating too. Usually, I am a fountain pen geek. So I will be writing approximately half with a bunch of fountain pens, and the rest with pencil. However, as a result of the brain tumor I am recovering from, I have suffered nerve damage in both hands, so I might write some with afaber-Castel E-Motion mechanical pencil. Have a polymer sleeve a friend made for it, that makes the gripping area about 1" in diameter, and thus makes it easier for me to use. I have saked this artist friend to make me a couple more so I can use them on regular wooden pencils.

This will be my fifth year participating in Nano (either I'm committed, or I should be).

Last year, I marked November 1st by getting a mild concussion. I think the "drain bamage" may have even helped the process along. (As a professional writer, while volume is no challenge, turning off the internal editor is a Sisyphean struggle.) This year, family issues have made me feel less than motivated to slam through another 30 days of terrible prose. This may be the first year I do not "win." Or maybe Nano will prove to be cathartic. Ask me in 29 days.

I must be insane, but I'm giving it a shot. And I'm doing it in pencil. It's easier to smuggle a pocket Moleskine and a pencil into the loo at work than a laoptop ;-)

I haven't written anything other than computer code and technical documentation for 13 years. But my newly restored interest in pencils and journals has inspired me to take this bold step. I've got my Mirado Black Warrior and Ticonderoga Tri-write here and some Grip 2001 and Palaminos on the way.

Ah, this is the first year I'm not doing Nano, after 3 years (won 2 times) because I'm going to Paris on Friday for the trip of a lifetime.

But I'll collect notes for my next Nano project and am taking my lovely orange Palominos for sketching!

I'm taking notes in pencil (Dixon Ticonderoga), but typing the actual manuscript because I can type so much faster than I can write by hand.

Manuscript and process documentation at:

Me too, second year. While I'm not writing the novel in pencil, I did use my new Mirado Black Warrior to write 6 pages of pre-notes! And I'll use pencil to flush out that pesky outline that I was suppose to have before today.

Yep, I'm doin' the NaNo thang again this year...or, well, *trying* to. I just wrote the first 1,000 or so words and will be blogging the process, but probably not the product. Unless, of course, I write something amazing...well, yeah, probably not.

But no, I'm not writing in pencil: it's all laptop, all the time, since it's easier to do wordcounts that way. If I had a secretary to type my scribbles for me, though, that would be another situation entirely... :-)
