My experience parallels your own - that the large hole in 2-hole sharpeners allows triangular pencils to wobble, leading to the problems you cite. And the small hole is a little too snug. Good news! Arriving with PencilThing's next boatload from Germany (eta mid-April) is KUM's new "Special-Diameter 8+10mm" 2-hole magnesium sharpener designed specifically for triangular pencils. Meanwhile, I have great success using the KUM Two-Step Automatic Long Point sharpener (SKU: 105.30.21) on Ticonderoga and other triangular pencils.

I have a problem (many actually).

Not with Pencil Things, far from it: my order of a couple of KUM sharpeners and some Palaminos arrived within the week.

My problem is with sharpeners:

Triconderoga pencils, Kum large sharpener....

When I try to sharpen the pencils, I get gouges, repeatedly broken lead, and spirals on the lead that's left.

What is the magic?

PENCIL HEAVEN!

I hope there is not too much competition—I love both!

Problem is, I have bought so many pencils and so much paraphernalia, both offline and on, that I am running out of space (and I can't live long enough to use what I have).

I mean, I still have 18 Mongol #1s from college, 20something years ago. And that was from before I got obsessive!

Pencil caps . . . hmmm . . .

We at California Republic wish to welcome new Comrade Don Bell and PencilThings.com to the Revolution. We are excited about our new partnership as they begin distributing items in our Palomino, Golden Bear, ForestChoice & Prospector product ranges. Just can't wait to see those listings up soon. Pencil Things offers a much broader range of pencil related items that we only wish we had time and energy to offer ourselves at Pencil World Creativity Store. Good Luck, Comrade Bell.

This is definitely good news.
One brand that might be worth looking at is the Unigraph 1200 from Musgrave. Musgrave is still in business and still sells the Unigraph (it's green like the FC9000, not as perfectly finished, but still very nice)- and I'm hoping it's still as good as the ones I bought about 5 years ago. If the Unigraph is still a quality pencil, PencilThings might be a good outlet for them.
