Bob Newhart.

At Navy Pier in Chicago, there is a bronze statue of Oak Park native Bob Newhart.  What is special is that he is holding a pencil:)

As many times as I go to Navy Pier, I’ve never seen this. I’ll have to make a point to look!

I think it was near the entrance, on the shore side (?). I was only in Chicago shortly and just ran up to see the pier and say I’ve been there. Had to hit Dick Blick before I move to Maryland where we don’t have one. :)

Well, if you’re ever here for more than shortly, let me know!

LOL, great find! The finale of the 2nd Newhart series was the best show finale ever imho.

Sorry we missed you again John. Next time you have to stay longer:)

For sure! It’s a beautiful city, and I always sit longingly looking out the train window on the way to the coast at the things I missed getting to see in Chi-Town:(

We went to Navy Pier the first week of April 2007. Where exactly is the Bob Newhart statue? Thank you.

who is he and what is he famous for-inventing pencils?
