Pencil Revolution began in the summer of 2004 conceptually and in summer 2005 on the web. In 2013, blogs seem downright Quaint at times, in a pleasantly Not So Retro But Still Retro way. There are more — and better! — pencil blogs on the net these days, and Pencil Revolution does stray from strictly pencil-related pieces from time to time. Despite some lapses in posting, we are still going strong, with sharpeners at the ready.
Based in Hip and Happening Hampden, in Baltimore City, Pencil Revolution is edited by John[ny] Gamber, who holds a PhD in Philosophy (in Pragmatism/Nietzsche) and a Serious Ultra Mega Doctorate in Drinking Coffee and Walking. Aside from Pencil Revolution, he occupies himself with being a fulltime dad to an adorable toddler named Charlotte who is probably the cutest kid in the world.
We gladly publish submissions from all over the globe, of pencil art, essays on pencils, on writing, reviews, etc. Please use the contact form if you are interested in contributing or suggesting a piece. If you’re feeling especially low-fi, our mailing address is available for the asking. Send us some mail! We love mail!
[Note: We do not manufacture pencils. We do not sell pencils. We do not get paid for our reviews. We never have. But, being human, we have biases!]
